01 — The ChallengeWhat we were handed

Traditional fitness apps track workouts but do not keep anyone committed.

Generic plans make users feel unseen, and motivation fades within weeks. GymBait set out to change that with AI: personalised plans, progress tracking that reads as progress, and enough community for the app to feel answered rather than logged into. Most gym apps are reactive — you log a workout and hope it sticks. This one predicts the engagement gap and speaks first.

02 — Design System

The kit of parts

The decisions taken before a single screen was drawn. Everything after this is assembly.

Logo

The lowercase gym with a capital BAIT, and a stroke that reads as a bar on the rack. Lockup fixed before the UI so the header never argues with it.

Colour therapy

Navy for authority, electric blue for action, near-black for ground. Three colours only, so the call to action is never ambiguous.

Typography

Barlow Condensed. Narrow enough to carry a full exercise name on one line at phone width, athletic without shouting.

Art direction

The moodboard set the register before layout: dark surfaces, real bodies mid-effort, data shown as shape rather than tables.
